It's very rare for a drum kit at this price point to have the ability to connect with your computer. But sure enough the Alesis DM6 kit performance electronic drum set can do just that. So you can have the same midi recording functionality that you get with more expensive sets.

Everything but the Kitchen Sink

This set is pretty much a complete drummer's set in a box. The only thing it doesn't have is the throne (seat). Otherwise, it's got everything down to the drumsticks. So you can start playing immediately after assembly.

All of this amounts to amazing quality for the price. I don't know of any other drum kit that will deliver on this scale for such a low price.

1. Maze Game - Your objective is to find 10 Pokemon and escape the Sea Temple Maze. Top screen displays the maze. Using the bottom screen you choose which direction to go as it shows a moving closeup of pathways.

2. Who's That Pokemon? - In this game you have to guess what each Pokemon is by their number shown. You have a multiple choice of 3 answers, with a shadow image of each shown on top screen.

3. Which Doesn't Belong? - 3 different characters are shown one by one on top screen with numbers below. You need to work out which one isn't the same type. Even if you guess right or wrong, an explanation of each is given at the end of each round.

4. Pokemon Search, "Find the Pokemon" - You need to watch the Pokemon as they move around the screen and find where they are hiding. Each rounds gets harder, with more locations to find and memorize. One wrong move and you're out!

5. Who Would Win? - You are presented with 2 Pokemon on top screen one by one, with multiple choice answers below. You have to guess which one would have the advantage in a duel. After you choose and marked correct/incorrect, a full explanation is given of which one has greatest strength and why.

6. Pokemon Memory - You have 12 chances in this game (text displayed on top screen) to match Pokemon characters shown on bottom screen as Poke Balls. Each time you try to get a match their pictures are shown on top screen. Once you guess correctly, each pair then disappears off the bottom screen. Being a memory game fan as a kid, this was one of my favourite games.

7. Poke Ball Shuffle - Watch carefully as Pikachu hops into one of 5 Poke Balls and the balls shuffled on top screen. Use the arrow buttons to choose where Pikachu is hiding. If you guess wrong it shows where Pikachu was and asks if you want to play again.

The Chinese office electronics manufacture Jinke is little-known, so how it has been toiling away to perfect their Hanlin line escapes many. But Jinke has been steadily boasting of bright and stable devices, and the Hanlin V2 is no exception. Yet it wasn't until the V2 model that Jinke stepped up to a touch screen capability. The Hanlin eReader V2's price tag of $349 leaves it on the higher end of the Hanlin line, but it's gaining quite a following for its ultra-portability, longer-lasting battery, and touch screen facility.

Features - Hardware and Software

The Hanlin eReader V2 has all the makings of a Hanlin: a 6-inch screen display, super convenient directory management, user-friendly interface, and multilingual capability, which has made Jinke's ereader line quite popular with international readers. It also boasts of the same brightness and performance stability Hanlin products are known for, but Jinke put a step forward with the V2 by adding touch screen capability.

The Hanlin V2's design is another jump in the ereader line. The gadget comes in a more stylish white or black casing and leather jacket to add extra protection from scratches and accidental drops. Though heavier than the Hanlin V3 at 300g, it's still light enough to be carried anywhere, whether at your workplace, on vacation, or during travels. There's still the mp3 playback capability found in other Hanlin ereaders, which lets users listen to audiobooks or music, as well as support for multiple digital formats. Classifying and managing books is easy with the V2's multi-level folders system.

Cons

Jinke didn't add quite much to the Hanlin eReader V2. With no improvement in the grayscale level (4) or resolution (600 x 800 pixels), screen display looks ancient compared to the second and third generation models of rival ebook readers. Storage is still 512 MB, which is good for a thousand ebooks only, although it can support 20,000 additional ebook, photos, and music files via a 4GB external storage. Jinke hasn't addressed page turn issues as well, and with only 200 MHz processor, page turns are quite sluggish compared to rival devices boasting of 400 MHz processor or more. Figuring out how to perform certain functions, such as the built-in dictionary, can be difficult, and command menus are often replete with grammatical errors.
